Thanks for visiting. I'm a lifelong Vancouver resident. I grew up in the Westside neighbourhood of Dunbar and now live in East Vancouver with my wife and two young children. I graduated from UBC in 2006 with a Bachelor of Economics, and in 2007 I decided to focus my skills in the mortgage area of real estate finance and obtained my sub-broker licence.
In 2008 I began working at First National Financial, an industry-leading mortgage lender who I still deal with frequently on my clients' behalf. From there I became an in-house underwriter for a large Verico brokerage, executing mortgage approvals on behalf of a devoted sales force. I underwrote a large portfolio of transactions for three years, giving me ample experience with all types of residential mortgages and the challenges that come with them.
I then moved to Dominion Lending Centres, A Better Way,, where I was the in-house underwriter for most of 2014. The following year I left the underwriting department to broker my own clients directly, while still underwriting on behalf of a small group of brokers at the firm.
After three years at Dominion Lending Centres, I left the franchise model and co-founded Vanderkamp Vancouver Mortgages, a boutique independent brokerage based in Vancouver. Today I focus exclusively on my clients, old and new. I bring my extensive background in underwriting to every file, which means I know how approvals actually get made, and I use that knowledge to get the best outcome possible for the people I work with. I'm dedicated to my clients' ongoing and evolving mortgage needs, and committed to being their most trusted and accessible resource.
My job isn't to sell you a mortgage. It's to find you the right mortgage, explain exactly why it's right for your situation, and make the whole process as painless as possible. If I can't do all three of those things, I haven't done my job.
You deal directly with me - not an assistant, not a call centre, not a junior associate. When you call or text, I respond. Usually fast.
If refinancing doesn't make sense for you right now, I'll tell you. If your current lender's renewal offer is actually competitive, I'll say that too. My job is to give you the right answer, not the one that closes the deal.
Getting a mortgage involves a lot of document collection, lender questions, and waiting. I take that on so you don't have to. I keep you updated at every step.
Give me a call or send a message. Most conversations start with a 10-minute chat about what you're trying to accomplish. I'll take it from there.
